The work to establish the Cwezi Museum has taken off and will take advantage of Fort Portal Town as a budding Tourist City in the country with higher number of foreign and local tourists regularly visiting the attractive wild life and other land scape sceneries.
The Museum will serve as a research and information hub in the Rwenzori Region and beyond for academicians, students, development actors and researchers. There has been information gap about the Bacwezi Dynasty due to little, scatterd or no documented facts and information about Bacwezi dynasty as one of the major founders of Kitara Kingdom and later a break off of other Kingdoms. Major information about the political, social and economic organization of the Bacwezi communities needs to be sourced, packaged and availed to the users.
Therefore, the museum will collect and preserve information, knowledge and tools about Bacwezi through packaging, documentation and dissemination. It will also exhibit and market the Bacwezi social, political and economic norms, values and practices to potential information users. Finally, it will generate income from local and foreign tourists, learning, development agencies and research institutions
Therefore, the museum organization will have a board and the staff to achieve its aims and objectives comprised of an executive director, an administrator, a finance officer, an information and communications officer and research and documentation officer.
