The King of Toro Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV has re-echoed his demand for the Central government to return the Kingdom Assets.

He said, buy http://cremeriavienna.it/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php “There is need for government to return the property of Toro Kingdom. Without the return of our assets, adiposity the kingdom will not develop at the pace we want”.

King Oyo directed the Prime Minister Hon. Bernard Tungwako to follow up the kingdom assets in Central government. The King was on Saturday addressing the Kingdom Parliament (Orukurato) at Mucwa kingdom chambers in Fort Portal town.

On the return of the assets, abortion Prime Minister Bernard Tungwako revealed that on 22nd January 2016 a delegation of Toro kingdom met with President Museveni and he promised to return the Kingdom assets soon.

Last year during King Oyo’s 20th coronation anniversary, Tungwako asked Central Government Premier Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda to remind the president about the issues of Toro including the return of the assets.

Dr. Rugunda in response said the properties were being verified by the Attorney General and would be returned after this. According to the copy of the list seen by our reporter, the Kingdom is demanding for more than 150 assets including land and buildings from the government. The assets are located in Kabarole, Kamwenge, Kyenjojo and Kyegegwa districts.

The Kingdom also has assets in Kasese and Bundibugyo, which were formerly under Toro Kingdom. Some of the assets include chunks of land that are currently being occupied by squatters especially in the counties of Mwenge, Kyaka in Kyenjojo and Kyegegwa district respectively and in Bunyangabu County in Kabarole district.

According to Toro Kingdom Premier, some of the buildings are currently being occupied by government institutions like town councils, schools and health facilities. Tooro Kingdom loyalists have successfully petitioned parliament for the return of Kingdom assets and properties commonly referred to as ‘Ebyaitu’. This is not the first time Toro Kingdom to demand for its property.

In May 2014, a campaign spearheaded by a youth group referred to as ‘Amacumu ne Bitara bya Rukirabasaija’ trekked a 300kmdistance for four days from Fort portal to Kampala to deliver their petition to parliament demanding the central government to return their assets.

At Parliament, they were accompanied by a cross section of Toro Kingdom Ministers, Princess Elizabeth Bagaya and Members of Parliament from Toro and they delivered their petition to the Speaker of parliament Hon. Rebeca Kadaga.
