His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, King of Tooro has stressed the need for adherence to HIV treatment in the fight against HIV. Speaking to thousands of his subjects in Kihuura Sub-county, Kyenjojo district, King Oyo who is also a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador called on all people living with HIV who are on treatment to adhere to treatment in order to achieve viral suppression and be able to live long and productive lives. The King further called on his subjects to always encourage and support those on HIV treatment to consistently and correctly take their drugs so they can achieve undetectable levels of HIV.

Adherence to HIV treatment is critical to achieve viral suppression and undetectable levels of HIV. We must also ensure that all people living with HIV are enrolled and adhere to treatment so that we can realize our desired 2020 goal of 90-90-90: Treatment for All – KING OYO

King Oyo also urged his subjects especially the youth to embrace and utilize the available free HIV counseling and testing services. His Majesty also warned the youth to avoid risky and reckless behaviours to reduce the risk of acquiring HIV and be able to positively contribute to the development of their communities, Kingdom and country.

King Oyo is currently on a Kingdom-wide tour ahead of his 23rd Coronation Anniversary (Empango) Celebrations to be held on the 8th September 2018 at the Royal Palace of Tooro, Karuziika in Fort Portal.
