His Majesty King Oyo as part of the Uganda delegation headed by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, attended the official opening of the General debate of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York under the theme: “Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies.

The King joined the world leaders at this year’s UN General Assembly in New York to amplify the youth voices and the role of monarchs in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

As the youngest reigning monarch in the world, the King’s aim is to contribute and engage the world leaders especially his fellow monarchs to ensure that the United Nations is relevant to the Youth and Monarchs and no one is left behind in the implementation of the sustainable development goals.
Only when we leave no one behind, especially the Youth and Monarchs, shall we have peaceful, equitable and sustainable societies” – King Oyo.
As a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for ending AIDS by 2030, the King will engage his fellow monarchs and world leaders to increase their support and strengthen their commitment in the fight against HIV/AIDS especially among the youth in Tooro, Uganda and Africa.
King Oyo’s aspiration for Tooro Kingdom is to ensure that Tooro becomes a model kingdom for the successful implementation of sustainable development goals.
I am therefore, engaging fellow monarchs, member states, development partners and key private sector players present here in New York to support and invest in Tooro to ensure the Kingdom becomes a model or sustainable development. – King Oyo
King Oyo together with Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda and the entire Uganda Delegation, are also promoting and positioning our country as a premier tourism and investment destination.
