Bacwezi clan is registered and recognized by Tooro Kingdom with a membership of more than 60,000 from Kabarole, Kamwenge, Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa Districts in Western Uganda. The Bacwezi Clan is a registered community based organization at Division level with contact offices located in Fort Portal Municiplaity. The clan has been engaged in mobilization activities of all Bacwezi in Tooro Kingdom to join the organization for socio-economic support network.
What We Do
The organization engages in collective financial mobilization and contribution; monitoring and learning from income generating initiatives; encouraging members on education; hygiene; mediation of family conflicts. Finally, the organization has been engaged in micro saving and credit activities aiming at availing credit and saving services for investment among the members.
The Bacwezi has been further grown into a community based organization that works towards remaining a center for the exhibiter, packager and provider of Bacwezi Clan legend – information and evidence in East Africa as its vision.

The organization has embarked on a museum complex establishment plan for a period of 5 years (November, 2015 to October, 2020) and is soliciting for a financial funding of UGX 500,000,000 from potential donors. The funding will cover construction work, staffing & remuneration for a start, stocking of the museum with literature, art products & furniture.

Museum Info Access Unit
The art gallery caters for the display of posters, paint pictures, wood, craft and molds with a special focus on Bachwezi tradition, heritage and cultural practices. Learn more about the Art Gallery in the Cwezi Museum. This is one of the strongest units of the museum containing historical content about the Bachwezi, systems of governance, faith and cultural beliefs, tradition, norms and values, including physical tools used in any of the mentioned sections. Learn more here. The Information Resource Unit is responsible for exhibiting the Art gallery, info-resource and video archives room. Learn more. The Video section serves for short video documentaries and productions for viewing and product selling. They include traditional music, plays, features, news and interviews. Learn more.
Cwezi Clan Business Unit (CNBU)
The spot will avail space for in- door and external games for interaction, socialization, relaxation and exercising. Learn more. The café will avail email, internet, stationary, typing, photocopy, binding, lamination services. Learn more. It will provide break fasts, lunch and dinner service to visitors and other customers to the museum. The dishes to be served will range from Ugandan and international food. Learn more.
